C&D recycling Incentive Programs

State and local governments are establishing ever higher recycling goals and many communities are looking to construction and demolition (C&D) debris recovery to meet the challenge. How to increase the level of C&D recovery is being approached from several directions in various parts of the U.S. Kessler Consulting, Inc. (KCI) is working with Sarasota County, FL under an innovative grant from the FDEP to research successful programs across the country that utilize incentives appropriate to the County. A pilot program is underway to test their effectiveness and help chart a course for the future.

This presentation will highlight the incentive elements of several national and state programs, their experience, and their measured results. It will explore the types of educational resources being made available to the building communities. The presenter will discuss which incentives were selected to be tested in Sarasota County and the challenges and solutions encountered so far during the pilot.
