Notes:
1. Air mileage legs and total calculated using Webflyer mileage calculator from major cities in each zone including layover factors

2. Transportation factors from the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol Initiative Mobile Sources Calculator v 1.2 (2003);
a. Ground transportation via automobile based on vehicle mile.
b. Ground transportation using multi-passenger modes (air, rail, bus) based on passenger mile.

3. Hotel night impacts assume 400sf room and use electricity and natural gas consumption averages based on EIA Consumer Buildings Energy Consumption Survey, 2003, and local energy grid indirect impacts based on eGRID2006 Version 2.1 (April 2007) Year 2004 Summary Tables, Florida CO2 Emissions

4. Putting it in Perspective excerpted from: A Consumer’s Guide to Retail Carbon Offset Providers (Clean Air, Cool Planet)

5. Shorter flights have a higher emission rate per passenger mile.

6. CO2 equivalent is the amount of CO2 that would have the same global warming potential (GWP), measured over 100 years as a given greenhouse gas. For example, the GWP for methane is 25 (IPCC 2007). This means that the emission of 1 million metric tons of methane is equivalent to emissions of 25 million metric tons of carbon dioxide.
